Back
Frogmen! Great little pre-Columbian textile with frog-like creatures. Beautiful warm colors and strong graphics. Probably dates to about a.d. 400 - 600. This piece was originally collected as a repurposed small bag made from a larger strip. It has now been opened out and is in its original form. Recently cleaned, it is ready to mount onto a backing cloth and be put onto a frame. Size: 7 x 14 inches. The brighter image of this piece shown below was shot in direct sunlight so it looks brighter than it does indoors. This is a sweet, primitive and captivating ancient textile fragment that is very unusual. With a pleasing madder-like red ground color. Exact provenance unknown, but probably Nasca culture of Peru. Amphibians unite!
