Circa 1890.
Ensi were door hangings used to cover the entrance to a yurt.
This example is woven with the traditional Ersari design; the colours are outstanding with a beautiful soft red ground and a very good light apricot, along with ivory and indigo blue. The ensi has good wool. The design in the elem panel at the base is very pleasing.
The ensi is in good condition with even wear and medium pile, slightly heavier wear to the middle with almost full pile at the sides.
The ensi has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
