Tibetan Checkerboard Rug, 1.62m x 0.93m (5'3" x 3'1") Alternate squares of dark blue and undyed ivory wool. Subtlety and texture are provided by the abrash and the slight variation in each of the squares. The wool quality and weave suggest this may be a very old example which dates to the last quarter of the 19th century.
