An exceptional antique fully silk embroidered Uzbek Bridal hair braid cover dating to the 3rd quarter of 19th Century. It is fully silk embroidery using very fine basma stitch. Often these are wrongly attributed to the Karakalpak. But their stitch indicated to be from Ura Tube region. It has a gorgeous floral design in red indigo with leaves and vines in beige and golden colour. iThe colours are fantastic and all derived from natural dyes. This type of embroidery was often done in sections and put together, likely by bride and her female family members. It is in good over all condition with some expected loose threads to the edges and some ever slight abrasion on embroidery. It has original cotton lining. a fine piece worthy of good collection. size: 90cm x 10cm (36" x 4")
