White Ground Anatolian Kilim. The strong animated design of this old Hotamis kilim is explosive, but well balanced. There are areas on both selvedges that are intact indicating the piece's original width. Along these sides there are a number of very well done repairs that blend well and help complete the picture. Based on the width of this kilim,(46 x 154 inches) that there were likely separately woven border panels that are no longer present. (??) This piece has suffered some unfortunate fading to one face that indicates it had more exposure to that face than to the one shown here. (see last two images for comparison of the two sides) The colors are all good and natural and the less exposed face of this kilim remains vibrant - the faded side less so, but not in a disqualifying way. This is a very powerful display piece that is priced well.
