16th c Hindu Goddess 'Annapurna'; bronze; 1 1/2"h or 3.8cm. 'Annapurna' has many epithets: Kitchen Goddess, Goddess of the Harvest, among others. In Sanskrit, Her name translates as 'full of food'. She is depicted, on Her throne, with a bejeweled ladle in Her right hand and a bowl of porridge in Her left. This particular example is extremely old - 16th c - and precious in size - 1 1/2'h; bronze. Acquired from a householder in Tamil Nadu, s India twenty odd years ago. SOLD
