Size: 4ft 10in x 3ft 5in (147 x 103cm).
Circa 1900.
The town of Derbent is located on the coast of the Caspian sea in the North East Caucasus and has a long weaving tradition. This small rug is a pleasing example with fine weave, the five central diamond medallions are in a very soft blue and are almost floating on the light camel coloured field. The traditional border frames the rug well.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium / low pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for light domestic use.
