An outstanding Antique Ersari Turkoman / Turkmen Talismanic silk embroidered talismanic textile dating to 19th century. This magnificent piece reflects the best of Turkoman embroideries. Such fine silk embroideries were made to serve the superstitious beliefs of the Turkoman cultures and were often either rectangular, square or triangular shaped. They would be attached to garments, trappings of other textiles and were thought to have protective powers. The gorgeous geometric design consists of three squares with rams horn motifs made of gorgeous natural colours. It is fully embroidered and stitched in direction of the design, giving the motifs a three dimensional look. The primary colours are just magnificent and the elegant silk tassels finishes off the piece with great elegance. a very rare textile art that of highest calibre. Size:: 18cm x 15cm (7" x 6.5") tassels included.
