Back
a lovely antique Uzbek silk suzani from 19th century rural Bukhara. It has fine polychrome silk chain-stitched embroidery on a cotton ground known as Karbos. The floral design is arranged in a unique way, compared to other examples of this age and region. Six floral bouquets are arranged in the field, each having different detail from the next. The borders follow a repetition of varying flowers interspersed with smaller flowers in blue and beige and a gorgeous meandering vine pattern. The colours are gorgeous. It is a lovely rural suzani with a gorgeous contrast between the borders and the field design. It has a lovely patina. In good overall shape with some slight abrasion of embroidery as expected. But nothing to distract the design. It is offered at a fair price. Size: 157cm x 107cm (62” x 42”)..
