Ningxia Carpet: Good circa late 19th/early 20th ce, Ningxia Tibetan Buddhist temple runner with two playful female “foo dogs” and pup, medallions, representing the nurturing aspect of the Yin principle, against an apricot colored background with 8 scattered floral sprays, surrounded by a border of auspicious Taoist and Buddhist symbols, rare are the fish images woven into the border. Condition: as most all Ningxia runners, 15cm/6in has been rewoven at the end as these were originally 20 to 30 feet long and were cut up to make separate rugs (see enlargement #7),there are 4 spots of missing pile (warp and weft completely intact) 3 noted in enlargement 4. See enlargements of the end, where this is quite obvious. l: 160cm/63in and w: 72cm/28.5in.
