4 Medallion kilim, Central Anatolia, 132 x 418 cm, circa 1800. This kilim has survived in extraordinary condition. It seems likely that it was donated to a mosque shortly after it was made, was subsequently never used and kept in a storage depot. The only losses in the kilim arise simply from contact with air, humidity, and temperature, causing some of the black dyed yarns to corrode away. the corroded black areas have been restored.
