Antique Ersari Turkmen torba of very large size, with turreted gul design. Probably by the Ersari of Northern Afghanistan.
Circa 1900.
This large size Ersari torba was probably woven as a dowry item and used to decorate the side of a camel during the wedding procession. The torba has three large turreted guls to the face.
Outstanding condition with very slight even wear. It is rare to find an example in such an excellent state of preservation, the torba retains its long tassels and decorative braiding; it also has the original hanging loops to the top corners.
Hand washed and ready for display.
MS7-27.
