Antique Afghan prayer rug of traditional village mosque design by the Kizil Ayak Turkmen.
Dated 1915.
The rug is of typical mosque design showing a mosque at the top and the field depicting the inside of a mosque. This group of prayer rugs depict a mosque with 13 minarets, 11 at the top and one at each side of the lower end. This rug is dated three times at the top, the date is 1333 which is 1915.
The rug is in poor condition with signs of a hard life, there is some old moth damage and some losses to the side bindings and ends. Never the less this is a genuine old rug of a sought after design.
