Antique Tekke or Saryk Turkmen rug with well drawn large Saryk turreted guls.
Circa 1880.
This is an good example of a Tekke or Saryk rug with two rows of seven Saryk turreted guls, the minor guls are also typical of Saryk weaving often found on chuval and main carpets. The rug has a soft floppy handle with a very warm soft madder red colour. The border is of the Turkmen sunburst design. Both rends retain part of the original kilim end finish.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium / low pile. There is some wear and slight losses to the side bindings and the end kilims are slightly ragged, this is reflected in the price.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
