An exceptional and rare antique Persian silk and gold metal thread brocade textile fragment mounted on a canvas. These things are considered the most coveted of textiles of Iran and even as fragment they are sought after. This interesting example was made possible by early Qajar Persians of the 19th century in the style of the Persian Safavid dynasty. The repeating hunter on a boat motif with flying birds is part of a classic Safavid design pool. But what is interesting in this example is that the clouds resemble that of late Ming or early Qing Chinese Kesi silk textiles. In real life it is gorgeous. Beautifully mounted on a canvas and finished with a gold metal trim. a good collector piece offered at a fair price. size of canvas: 20cm x 20cm. size of textile: 17cm x 15cm (6.75” x 6”).
