Antique Turkish Manastir prayer rug of outstanding simple design with a rams horn mihrab.
Circa 1900.
The rug is beautifully drawn with superb pastel colours through out. The ivory field has a repeat design of flowering shrubs, and rising through them is a rams horn mihrab in light indigo blue. The main border is of a floral rosette design with the outer guard being in a soft yellow. Manastir rugs originate from the Turkish Balkan region; north west Anatolia.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight wear and good pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for light domestic use and would make a superb wall hanging.
