Circa 1890. Size: 8ft 7in x 5ft 2in (262 x 158cm).
A good example of the classic Shirvan triple linked medallion design, the three serrated edge hexagonal medallions have smaller hexagons to the center. The rug has excellent colour with the medallions standing out on the dark indigo field. The main border is of a design that is typical of Shirvan weaving. The top medallion is abrashed giving a very soft warm feel, the field of the rug contains many small animals, people and charming rustic design elements.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug has wonderful soft wool.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
