sold - a ca. 1970 Moroccan hanbel with a field striped in earth tones and pops of color in turquoise, tangerine and more. Minimal pattern of pile construction.
Weft is wool - natural cream and browns, some vegetable dyed and some synthetically dyed. As is typical for 20 century Moroccan rugs made for personal use, a few fibres in the pile construction are recycled synthetics. Warp is manycolored cotton. Sturdy, can be used as blanket on bed or sofa, or on floor. Ca. 240x143cm, ca. 4,15kg. Last 2 pictures show details of the less faded backside; the difference is also visible on #3. Both sides can be used! The field originally was dominated by fuchsia stripes in one half and turquoise on the other; the purple has faded to a lavender gray on the front side. As consistent with a Moroccan rug this age and provenance it has two or three minor and well-done repairs. Cheerful yet earthy rug with a tribal spirit that pleases with a variety of materials carefully constructed. More high resolution pictures on request.
I'm a rug and textile collector with a passion for Moroccan and Turkish rugs (and some others). i sell only rugs that i have bought because i really liked and wanted them for myself. Sometimes i have to pass a cherished rug on to make space (for others). Please feel free to ask any questions about them you might have.
