Azilal rug, middle Atlas mountain region of Morocco. Undyed cream and brown wool in a checker pattern on a cotton weft, with colorful boucherouite details of recycled cloth. Ca. 1980-1990. Has served as sleeping rug in a Berber house previously and has some pile wear consistent with this, but is in excellent condition for its age, sturdy and can be used as wall hanging, bed cover or on the floor. Approx. 206x127cm, approx. 4,8kg. Wonderfully retro rug, and lively! The variegated check pattern makes you wonder whether it undulates. The check pattern used to be a favourite of Berber weavers, but not many nice ones can be found today. More high resolution pictures on request.
I'm a rug and textile collector with a passion for Moroccan and Turkish rugs (and some others). i sell only rugs that i have bought because i really liked and wanted them for myself. Sometimes i have to pass some on to make space (for others). Please feel free to ask any questions about them you might have!
