Nishapur Ceramic bowl. North East Iran, 10th century. Size: 8 x 2.5 inches (20.5cm x 6cm) Stylized bird design in center with Kufic inscription band on rim and sparse, simple decoration on outside of bowl. Repaired/conserved over 30 years ago. Islamic Calligraphy, Ottoman calligraphic paper folio, possibly a qit'ah, written in Persian in nasta'liq script with a proverb, "Give to the noble one (sharif)... 9 x 5.25 inches. It is conserved in a temporary mounting which measures 15"x12".Ex. Friedrich Spuhler collection.
