Early Pre-Columbian tapestry bag with eccentric wefts. a.d. 200 - a.d. 600. This style of tapestry work is among the most well known and admired of the Nasca tapestry styles. Despite it's relatively small size (13 x 6 inches) it creates a powerfully abstract design. This is accomplished using eccentric, curvilinear wefting of very fine alpaca yarns. This unique tapestry style is seen in a rare group of Nasca tapestry pieces that are highly regarded among collectors of pre-Columbian textiles. It was opened up and lined some years ago to show its full design. It is clean and in need of a simple mounting job to make it look great!
