old turkish village rug from the region of kayseri in eastern anatolia (asiatic turkey). The rug is in excellent condition with full unblemished pile and rich glowing colours. The whole rug is a portrayal of a large garden featuring the main traditional floral forms found in rugs from the earlier Ottoman period. Graceful tulips occupy each of the four corners in the field which, in turn, displays carnations, roses and an endless flowering vine in the borders. There is an interesting addition of a rectangular walled flower bed at the top of the centre panel. Reference 3324. Size 205 x 135 cms., or 6ft. 9ins. x 4ft. 5ins. Euros 435.
