Back
a long fragment an old Kurd Serab runner, 92 inches long and width varies from 35 to 37 inches. Probably about half of what was once a long Serab runner. It has also been reduced by 2 to 3 inches (5 – 7.5 cm) on each side. Good stable natural colors. Main border has a wild design that i don’t remember seeing before. Like many Serab rugs the camel ground outer border had a series of small motifs centered in it—parts of those small motifs remain. The cut end of this piece has been bound with a strip of fabric, and the sides were overcast—this overcasting is separating in a few short sections. Except for not being complete, the condition is excellent—good thick, deep pile, good colors. It appears that someone cut down a great Serab runner because they needed a shorter, slightly narrower one. This fragment has many years of life remaining, even if used in a high-traffic area such as a hallway. More images at higher resolution available on request.
