This circa 1920 Art Deco Chinese #7722 vintage antique Oriental Rug measures 8’8” x 11’4” (268 x 347 cm). It has a unique design. It has a very pale cocoa colored field which when looking over the nap becomes more of a clear pale grey. The center of the rug is indescribable. You look at it and put a name on it! Inside each segment of the medallion is a different motif. One segment has a lotus flower surrounded by purple. One segment has a butterfly fly on top of a flowering branch surrounded by purple, red and blue. Another has a big handful of flowers coming from a red sprig with a butterfly flitting among a sprig of flowers. There is a flowering tree branch surrounded by purple. And another segment has a butterfly on a flowering branch. Every other segment contains the same butterfly which is blue on blue with a red body but they are each on different flowers. All four of the corners are different. The left and right corners at the top are urns out of which are coming flowers and trees that flow into the field of the rug but mostly stay in the border. At the bottom left and right corners are two different urns with bouquets of flowers mainly in the border. At the base of the urn at the right are a handful of reeds that are plucked out of the ground by their roots and you can even see the roots. On the left hand side is a flower branch coming out of the border and into the field. The major border is approximately a foot wide. It is almost 80% covered in flowers and a dark ruby red. This rug is almost 100 years old and is in absolutely perfect mint condition like it was made yesterday.https://antiqueorientalrugs.com/product/7722-art-deco-chinese-rug/
