Antique Akstava Caucasian Rug Runner 3’6” x 8’4” #7955
This circa 1890 Akstava measures 3’6” x 8’4” (109 x 256 cm). It has five Memling guls in ivory and blue on a red ground. The ground is covered in deer with antlers, hashtags, various symbols in black, brown, blue and cordovan encompassed with an ivory ground major border containing Akstava hooked motif in red, cordovan, green, blue and brown. The outside border is a trefoil design in red and camel encompassed with two dog tooth guard borders. The rug is in good condition considering its age. It has good pile. There is some end erosion. The sides are all original with some problems for about 3” as photographed. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $75.00.
