Antique Baluch rug with an unusual version of the double prayer design. Both niches created by offsetting the ivory border rather than the typical continuous design. The “tile” design field is uncommon as well. Overall even low pile, Turkish knotted, with scattered wear and moderate oxidized browns. Good range of natural colors including light blues and yellow highlights. It appears some of the blues are dark wools dyed blue, creating a distinctive interesting mottled coloring. Original selvages. As found, dirty and in need of a good wash. An unusual and possibly unique Baluch rug. Late 19th c. 3’ x 5’9”
