Central Asian warp-faced tentband fragment, 19th century. This is either a Khirgiz or Uzbek band?? i collected Central Asian flatwoven tentbands when they were unusual. Such things are not common when they have decent age because of the hard usage they endured. This one is very unusual in design to my eye. It is seen here as two narrow bands joined side by side. i have pulled some curiosities like this out of storage and will post a few down the road. This piece is 8.5 x 49 inches. Not expensive.
