Antique example of an eastern Caucasian type with overall lattice design. Generally referred to as kuba rugs, with depressed weave, this one has light colored selvages usually associated with shirvan rugs not the typical kuba blue wrapping. i believe this one is older than most with larger variety of inset motifs and very heavy brown oxidation. Nicely drawn Kufic border. Remnant end kelim and original selvages. Overall decent low pile other than the oxidized browns. All good natural colors. Reasonably clean. Good age ca. 1870 or earlier. 4’2” x 4’8”
