Antique Caucasian Kazak rug with interesting design features and a very unusual narrow size. The weaver altered an otherwise typical diagonal striped field with width and design changes. The extra wide ivory main border is particularly bold. Mostly decent pile with an obvious area of heavy wear. i see a couple crudely sewn up tears, probably an attempt to straighten the rug. All good natural colors with good greens and yellow highlights. As found, very dirty, in need of a good wash. Excellent rug for restoration. Good age, ca. 1880 or earlier. 3’1” x 6’6”
