An exceptional antique Uzbek Shahrisabz silk suzani fragment (mounted on a canvas) dating between mid and third quarter of 19th century. The elegant boteh design with branches and smaller flowers is a visual delight. It was probably part of the field design. One can only imagine how beautiful the full suzani would have been. The embroidery is extremely fine with precise chain-stitch that flow in the direction of the pattern of the design. The natural colours are magnificent. It is stitched on a contemporary beige fabric and stretched on a canvas. It looks beautiful hung on a wall. Size of the frame : 26cm x 26cm (20” x 10").
