Antique Caucasian Derbent rug of star design with superb colour. www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Size: 5ft 11in x 4ft 0in (181 x 122cm).
Circa 1900.
The town of Derbent is located on the coast of the Caspian sea in the North East Caucasus and has a long weaving tradition. This small rug is an outstanding example with three large star medallions in a very soft blue and are almost floating on the midnight indigo blue coloured field. The traditional border frames the rug well.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and good pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
