Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of small size with excellent colour. www.knightsantiques.co.uk Size: 4ft 8in x 3ft 7in (142 x 108cm). Circa 1880. The rug has three rows of seven Tekke guls, these are will drawn and rounded in shape. The main interest in this rug is the beautifully drawn main border, this contains many design elements usually only found on Tekke main carpets. This could be considered as a rug in the format of a main carpet.... so a miniature main carpet. This is a striking small rug of an earlier date that would be of interest to collectors.
