Three American market 19th century Indian shawls. For cutting, mounting, repair. First is a coarser pieced kani woven shawl from small pieces relying heavily on embroidery. Shattered center. Does not lay flat. Decaying green. Last gasp of the tradition. 68" x 65". Second is a finer than most kani weave, woven in larger pieces, with embroidered detailing. Black center torn, patched and torn again. 70"x68" Third is a pieced and embroidered "amli" shawl. No kani weave. Holes in center, separations, decaying red, especially the flags/gates. 72" x 67". They have that faint coal furnace, tobacco, attic trunk, moth ball aroma. a bath would brighten them, particularly the amli shawl. Detail photos if you need them. Domestic sale greatly preferred.
