Small format prayer rug from Konya/Capadoccia, circa 1800-25. Very unusual village-woven collector piece. Bold scale archaic Tree of Life beneath the stepped mihrab arch. Small spots of Old reweaves, re-selvaged. 25 x 41 inches; 63 x 105 cm. Textbook structure and palette found in this small group of desirable rugs from this period in the Central Anatolia Goreme Valley region. Great character and profound authenticity.
