An exceptional antique early to mid 19th century Uzbek silk warp / cotton weft Adras Ikat, likely from Samarkand area. This is one of those rare early Ikats that really needs to be seen in person in order to appreciate its quality and colours, since even at best photos don’t do justice to it. It has an extremely fine weaving with a tightly spun silk warps and dark indigo weft, in line with ikats pf pre 1850’s. The design is made up of polychrome stripes with elongated diamonds. The colours are simply fantastic with a rich red, yellow, green, white and an excellent shade of indigo. All of the dyes are derived from natural materials. In good over all shape and will look great mounted/ framed and hung as a textile art. It will add nicely to any collection. Size: 64cm (25”) x 24cm (9.5”).
