Back
a magnificent antique Persian Resht / Rasht inscribed silk embroidery. Dating to 19th century Qajar era, it is chain-stitched silk embroidered on a red wool ground. Resht embroideries are some of the most visually interesting textiles of Persia. The colour palette used in this piece is unique and dazzling with rich blue, green, black, white and red ground. The design is concocted with an array of Persianate patterns and floral repertoire with inscription on the bordered. The Ottoman Tughra (imperial signiature) on each corner on white suggest that it could have been made for Ottoman market. It is a gorgeous example and offered at a very fair price.
