Timuri Baluch Rug, 3rd to 4th Quarter of the 19th Century. The design is in a repeat kalamdani (pen case) or centipede design. The border is an abstracted Yomut boat border originally derived from scrolling vine and floral Safavid border designs. The red has a rich glow. Note the line in a darker shade going across the top of the rug. The pile is all there except for corrosion of the browns and a small patch in a small section of the field. 94 x 175 cm
