Old Tibetan horse trapping known as a 'takyeb' and used for decorating the forehead of a horse, yak or dzo (a cross between a yak and a cow), often seen on the lead animal/s in a Himalayan pack train (as seen in the example above). It features a simple flower motif as its central design, has the remains of its upper leather 'tie down' straps and as was the common practice it is backed by cloth (which was replaced as needed over the years when worn out from use). Circa early I900's, fine hand spun wool warp and weft with all natural dyes. Size 23cm wide x 21cm high (9in x 8.25in).
