Rare antique west china gansu carpet with large scale (pomegranate) design, wool warp and wool weft, super fine wool, for the only reference with this design i have found, please see last pic hali 95 back cover. please note the rare purple seen but rarely on some silk rugs from this area... 309x 168cm another astonishing specificity of this carpet is the incredible quality of the wool, under the day light it is even more shiny than silk. actually the pile of old chinese silk rug in contrast to a general idee absorb in some way more light than some wool one.
