Beautiful Antique Persian Baluch Mashad Rug, 1880-1900
120 × 70 cm (3' 11" × 2' 3")
The light beige field with overall design of angular Hooke vine and lozenge palmettes. In broad light red border of bold hooked lozenges, angular vine and hooked panels between rosette, barber-pole and running-dog stripes. Very good type and very nicely drawn design. Bold appearance and good colour combination. This rig has localised wear to the pile, down to knot collar in places. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages original. In general this rig is in good usable condition. Very good example from Balouch tribe. Attractive.
