tabriz pictorial inscribed carpet acquired by the original owner in 1960 in the Hamburg Bonded Warehouses in Brooktorkai. It is exceptionally fine with a knot density of 550 to the square inch and a rating of 60 Raj. It depicts pastoral scenes throughout the 4 quarters of a year with activites such as plowing, seeding, riding and picknicking. Several grand buildings are shown in backgrounds and the whole piece has scattered inscriptions. The centre medallion depicts a line of horsemen and the oval frame portrays the signs of the zodiac, all of which carry inscriptions. Perfect condition, full velvety pile and completely original end finishes and overcasting, a magnificent piece. Reference 3357. Size 270 x 200 cms., or 9ft x 6ft. 7ins.
