old khorasan carpet which is fine and has an incredible depth of rich colours. The weave indicates that it was woven in southern Khorasan in the region of Birjand or Moud. The Farsi inscription in the top border reads "Woven in Asghand Carpet Studio under direction of Master Weaver Ahmed Bagheri". i welcome it having first sold it back in 2008 and it will be a wonderful focal point in a large room. a large Khorasan carpet displaying many similar designs and the beautiful depth of colours is shown as plate 137 in "Oriental Rugs - Volume 2 - Persian - by Erich Aschenbrenner", Reference 3358. Size 434 x 343 cms., or 14ft 3ins. x 11ft. 3ins. Euros 2800.
