Antique Kurdish Runner Fragment, ca 1850; 3’5” x 9’5” / 104 x 287 cm 113-inch long fragment of an indigo ground Kurdish runner with a beautifully drawn rendering of oft seen floral ovoid with four blooms. In bands of pistachio, golden-rod; dusty madder rose; and powder and medium-blues. Main border on aubergine/wine-purple ground with a meander of two-tier flower-heads and 8-pointed stars. Minor -reciprocal stars and tetrahedrons on ivory. Gorgeous collectors’ piece glowing with saturated natural colors. Overcast on all four sides, portions of the overcast frayed or missing; a few spots of darning, and some small bites out of the upper left edge.
