Antique Pink Moroccan Berber Rug An exceptionally pretty, rare antique Berber carpet. Circa 1920. 253 cm x 158 cm. Originally a uniform deep red, the ground has aged wonderfully, the whole length and breadth now comprising a huge range of soft pinks and darker reds. The simple design picked out in a limited, vibrant palette of orange, green and cream. The rug has been professionally cleaned and the overall condition is superb for the age, with a soft handle and only minimal signs of wear. The ends and selvages are original, with no signs of repair. The fringe at one end is clipped short, the other has the original plaited fringes, a couple of which are worn, and unknotted. See images. There are a couple of very small holes in the central field but these are not visible from the front, the pile being thick and long around the affected area. The rug needs to be held to the light and viewed from the back to spot these.
