Antique Senn-eh Kilim Rug, 4’1” x 5’9” // 124 x 175 cm
Indigo ground octagonal field with crisply drawn variant of the Herati design with a small
diamond shaped medallion with four small pendants at the cardinal points.
Field border drawn with three toothed lines, olive, ivory, and madder pumpkin orange; this
border slopes off vertical to define four spandrels. These spandrels contain floral lattices similar
to those found in Kurdish weaving. Main border and two minor borders-both floral meanders.
All natural colors, all wool foundation.
Losses to guard borders/ selvedges at ends and sides. Small holes in corner, border systems, and
the central medallion.
