Seljuk Bronze Ewer, ca. 12th Century CE;
Diameter: 4 3/8” // 11.1 cm
Height - including crest: 9 5/8” // 24.4 cm
Diameter Base: 3 5/8” // 9.2 cm
Antique, gracefully pear-shaped ancient bronze ewer with rich brown
patina with slight verdigris. Lamp-shaped spout with vent cover in the
shape of a lion’s head. The tip of the elegant sinuous handle resolves into
a nicely cast palmette. At the front two concentric incised circles.
Common to most 900 + aged metalwork are a few minor cracks, surface
abrasions and small holes. The interior base plate is missing.
