An elegant and fine antique Uzbek shahrisabz silk cross-stitched (iroqi stitched) belt with silver buckle and turquoise inlay. It dates to the 3rd quarter of the 19th century and it is an extraordinary piece. Many often mistakenly and generically call these Lakai when they are shahrisabz. Either way, it is a great museum quality piece with an unusual star design and double rams horn inner detail repeating in alternating natural colours against a lovely red. Such belts would be work by aristocratic families over extravagant robes / chapans. Seldom one finds such belts with their original buckles. It is in a good condition with natural age patina and finished with a fantastic original silk warp / cotton weft lining. Offered at a good price and is worthy of any good collection. Size 94cm x 8cm (37” x 3.25”)
