a rare complete antique Uzbek silk warp / silk weft atlas weave Ikat trousers dating to the 19th Century. This highly collectible ethnographic garment is attributed to the city of Bukhara. Such silk tie dyed trousers were worn underneath the chemise were often part of the bridal garment, which explains its great condition. Such pieces were often stored away after the wedding. It has a classic archaic design rendered with rich 6 colours. The ends have patterned embroidery which was likely added to it at some point during its life. Finding a complete piece is rare, especially one in a good condition. This one came from a very well known collection. In good condition and fair price. size: waste to bottom is 34" (89cm) . Waste is adjustable with a string insert with a maximum 39” (98cm).
