Important Kurdish Runner/ Long Rug, ca. 18th Century, or earlier; 2’8” x 10’8” // 81.3 x 325 cm
Woven in jewel-like natural colors characteristic of the finest Kurdish weaving, the field is sinuously drawn
version of a floral lattice, perhaps a Mina Khani derivative. The main border is woven with archaic dragonhead-botehs
on a madder-red ground; the field-perimeter border woven on a deep indigo, has a meander of 4-petal blue, red, and
green blossoms and tiny boteh in bronze-yellow. The outermost border has a similar meander with a reciprocal red
vine in place of boteh.
Scattered areas of wear, repaired/resewn tears, small holes. Outer borders missing on on end
