Antique South East Caucasian Shirvan rug with bold floral lattice design. www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Size: 5ft 1in x 4ft 8in (154 x 134cm).
Circa 1900.
This is a very good small Shirvan rug of almost square proportions, the design is one of the less common amongst Shirvan weaving. The bold lattice with small white flowers is almost reminiscent of that found in Baluch 'mina khani' rugs. The ivory ground border frames the madder red field well, this is a very pleasing small Shirvan rug.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
